To continue the conversations inspired by the submissions, WMA Open maintains a gallery of images governed by Creative Commons licenses. Members of the public are encouraged to use the images with appropriate attribution for educational and non-commercial uses such as lectures and non-commercial projects. For more details, please refer to http://open.wma.hk/gallery/
The panel of judges for the contest includes WMA Masters 2017/18 winner YIM Sui-fong, WMA Masters 2016/17 winner Wei Leng TAY, and WMA Masters 2013, 2014/14 finalist SIU Wai Hang. All the finalists and winners will be offered a professional development opportunity while each winner will receive a cash prize of HK$12,000 as encouragement.
The jury panel is impressed with the quality of the submissions this cycle, in terms of the clarity of messages the images conveyed and the consistency of language used by those who submitted more than one image. They have also noticed the diversity of interpretations of the theme, which reflects that people from different backgrounds are participating in this programme. “The three winning entries, from landscapes of flyovers connecting suburbia, to picture-on-picture shots of policy propaganda, to portraiture of secular and deity under flyovers, lend us different angles to reflect upon the notion of opportunity in contemporary Hong Kong.”
To inspire reflections and discussions on the issue, an exhibition featuring the finalists and winning works will be held:
